The De Beers Group of Companies is the world’s largest diamond mining house, supplying nearly half the total global supply of rough diamonds, by value. It sells rough diamonds on to the market through its sales and marketing arm, the DTC or Diamond Trading Company.
The DTC supplies rough diamonds on a 3-year contract basis to ‘DTC Sightholders’: a selected group of diamantaires who have demonstrated both outstanding business performance and ethical accountability. Rough diamonds are supplied in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Botswana and Namibia, during ‘Sights’ that take place 10 times a year.
DTC Sightholders are selected on their proven abilities in the core areas of business and strategic planning, manufacturing excellence in relevant categories of rough diamonds, business reputation and strict adherence to a code of ethical accountability.
Benefits of being a DTC Sightholder include quality, consistency and predictability of supply, enhanced corporate reputation, as well as marketing and advertising support. DTC Sightholders are recognised as being amongst the most important diamantaires within the industry and competition to become a DTC Sightholder is consistently fierce.
Bonas is privileged to count a large list of DTC Sightholders among its clients, and is actively engaged in working with companies keen to receive supply from the DTC, helping them to fulfill the DTC’s stringent selection criteria and ultimately to be accorded Sightholder status.
